Well, I’m basically the geek behind the scenes here who pounded his fingers against a keyboard for over a year to produce this website. One of my favorite hobbies is web application design and development. My friends and I have maintained this site for about 7 years now slowly refining it over the years. For the most part, I typically enjoy anything related to computers and technology. Heck, my apartment alone is a technological battlezone with wireless signals beaming across the airwaves and gadgets scattered everywhere.
Not everything is electronic to me though, I enjoy reading books, going out for a night on the town with some friends, and relaxing to chillout music. Well, considering what I listen to is recorded on the site, I guess that’s no surprise, right.
When my laptop is off and my iPod isn’t blasting the latest set from DJ GT and Project C I’m typically out with some friends, watching the latest Netflix movie that arrived, or reading a book like Tipping Point, Blink, or Angels and Demons. It should be no surprise, but I have a Playstation 2 and an XBox360.
I enjoy heading out to a local hole in the wall bar or restaurant and having some good beer (e.g., Sharp Edge) or a glass of wine.
What I Use to Develop- Apple 15” MacBook Pro – Running Tiger, this system is where the magic happens kiddies. I pretty much have this laptop at my side at all times.
- Self-built desktop system – This system runs Ubuntu and WindowsXP in a dual boot configuration. Mainly I don’t use these systems unless a) I have to test something in Internet Explorer or b) I’m curious what it renders like on a Linux system.
- Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer – The browsers I try to maintain compatibility with site wide.
- CSSEdit – Used for mangling my CSS styles together.
- TextMate – Simply my all time favorite editor, it’s like its own little operating system.
- Ruby on Rails – The framework used to build this entire website.
- MySQL – The database server that stores all this stuff.
- Paul Oakenfold – Went to see him live once in Pittsburgh, I’ve been hooked on his music ever since.
- Sandra Collins – Dude, this chick is a heck of a DJ…she was with Oakenfold that night I saw him.
- Bitter:Sweet – Somewhat of a different sound, but I accidently stumbled upon them one iTunes browsing day and found the music to be relaxing.
- IIO – Mostly their remixes, but anything with Nadia Ali fits my fancy.
- Others – Eminem, 50 Cent, Jay Z, Snoop, Biggie, Imogean Heap, Tiesto, Delerium, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, I could go on for hours.
- Halo – There is no other game on Earth I’d rather play than Halo. The night this came out, my friend Tim and I played it non-stop until it was beat. While our roomates were getting up for work, we were playing the game. I believe I had blisters on my fingers towards the end.
- Final Fantasy – I’ve played every iteration of this series and beat each one. However, I need to buy a PS3 to play the latest installment in the series.
- Quake and Doom – I wouldn’t be a geek if I didn’t love the shoot em’ up spirit of these first person shooters.
- Art of War by Ralph D. Sawyer
- Never be lied to again by David J. Lieberman
- The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People by Stephen R. Covey
- Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
- First, Break All the Rules by Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman
- Matrix – One was great, two was good, three was ok.
- Armageddon – Harry Stamper rules!
- Rounders – Probably one of Matt Damon and Edward Norton’s better films in my opinion.
- Boondock Saints – A little known, but very addicting movie.
- Wedding Crashers – There is no limit to how many times I can watch this movie.
- Nip Tuck – While the seasons are getting progressively worse, I’m still addicted.
- The Shield – Vic Mackey and his crew are simply ruthless, I love it.
- Grey’s Anatomy – Not my favorite, but I regularly watch it.
- Sopranos – You talkin to me?
- Rescue Me – Just like every other FX show I watch, this one certainly pushes the envelope, which is probably why I keep watching it.
